Tires were dipped, camps were taken down and the luggage trucks were moving out.
RAGBRAI day 1 is underway and riders have been streaming out of Council Bluffs all morning.
Molly Acevalo and Justin Peters were putting past mi it’s touches on their bikes and getting ready to roll out around 7 a.m.
The two are from Los Angeles and were in the Midwest for the summer.
“I’ve been hearing about RAGBRAI as long as I’ve been a cyclist,” Acevalo, 37, said. “I’ve always wanted to do it. I figured we’re in the Midwest, lets take advantage.”
She’s most excited about the small pass through communities.
The weather was right for RAGBRAI with the temperature at 73 degrees in the morning and an expected high in the mid-80s.
The two said they were excited but their biggest concern? Training.
Acevalo has done plenty of tours before but was busy app summer.
Peters, 35, commutes to work but has never ridden distances.
“Each of these days will be the longest day I’ve ever done,” he said.
