First-time rider Josh Livingston didn’t miss a beat this afternoon when asked his favorite part about RAGBRAI.

“The downhill,” quipped the Seattle teen.

The cyclist (and budding comedian) rolled into Des Moines’ Water Works Park today with his dad, Rob Livingston.

A hot shower and a possible trip into the city were on the agenda for later in the evening. But first things first

“I’m still recovering,” said Livingston, relaxing beneath the shade of a tree inside the RAGBRAI campground. “I guess I should get up soon, before I can’t move,”

Livingston trained for the ride before coming to Iowa, but nonetheless, Monday’s 83-mile pedal from Harlan to Perry “was really tough.”

A day later, Livingston was still — literally — feeling the burn.

“Like the new tan lines?” joked the 15-year-old, who suffered a sunburn on Monday.

Yet despite it all, Livingston was in high spirits this afternoon.

“It’s been good,” he said of his time on RAGBRAI. “I would do it again.”
