On April 19th, join the Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department for the 2014 Mayor’s annual Ride & Run for Trails. In addition to the annual ride, the Parks and Recreation Department has added a 5k run to the day’s events.
THE RIDE
The 25 mile ride starts at City Hall, 400 Robert D. Ray Drive at 10am Saturday, April 19 and will travel through many area neighborhoods before ending back at City Hall. Registration Fees are: $ 25 per adult before April 1st, $30 after April 1st, $5 for children ages 5 through 18 years, and children 4 and younger are free. Registration fees include refreshments at the rest stop, sag support and a repair van.
THE RUN
The 5k run will also start at City Hall and the route will highlight downtown trails. Registration Fees are: $ 25 per adult before April 1st, $30 after April 1st, $5 for children ages 5 through 18 years, and children 4 and younger are free. The run will begin at 8am, allowing time for participants to enter both the ride and the run for an additional $5. Event shirts will be guaranteed to all participants that register prior to April 2nd. Zombie Burger meal cards will be given out to the first 700 that register for one of the two events.
RAGBRAI, and The Des Moines Register, will once again continue as co-sponsors of the ride, which helps improve, maintain and highlight Des Moines’s recreational trail system. Mayor T. M. Franklin Cownie will lead the ride assisted by The Register’s own Dream Team.
