Mark Wyatt, executive director of the Iowa Bicycle Coalition, attended the National Bike Tourism Conference in San Antonio, Texas on November 5 – 9, 2018. This annual gathering of bike tourism professionals from across the US is a 3-day sharing of best practices for events and destination tourism.
Wyatt was able to attend sessions on sponsorship, diversity, and event management. One of the highlights of the event was the introduction of the PeopleForBikes Ride Spot and economic impact templates. Another highlight was the presentation by Aaron Hatala from Cuyuna, MN who spoke about the Why of Branding. In addition, Wyatt participated in several group rides, including the Tuesday SATX Social Ride with over 350 people.
Wyatt has served on the Bike Tour Networks board of directors for the past five years and assists with the conference planning. Wyatt was the moderator for the Events 101 panel and introduced several speakers during the event.
The conference will return to San Antonio in 2019.
