An Iowa House panel moved forward legislation to address distracted driving. House Study Bill 82 aims to add distracted driving to one of the required topics in the driver education curriculum. The bill simply changes the required “substance abuse” part of the curriculum to “substance abuse and distracted driving”.
No additional time is added to the course, but the passage would require the material to be taught in classes with new drivers.
The passage now moves on to the Iowa House Transportation Committee.
