Furry friends join RAGBRAI

SHELDON, Ia. — RAGBRAI isn’t just for two-legged folks.
“The Sweetness,” a 12-week-old shih tzu-bichon, is joining her owner, Mary Jane Porter of Mason City, for the ride this week.
“We thought she would really enjoy it,” Porter said.
Sweetness doesn’t just ride in the car while Porter drives, though. She also rides in the bicycle basket with Porter’s family, who is cycling.
“She was really good the whole way,” Porter said.
Every dog has its day, but for Sweetness, this is her week.
“We didn’t want to leaver her in a kennel, anywhere,” Porter said.
