Iowa Safe Routes to School – Educating Kids in Spencer

Over the last year, Iowa Safe Routes to School has been collaborating with Northwest Iowa Planning & Development Commission to improve biking and walking safety for kids Lyon, Sioux, Osceola, O’Brien, Dickinson, Clay, Buena Vista, Emmet, and Palo Alto. During the past year, the bulk of the work has focused on Spirit Lake and Spencer.

Indianola Passes First Reading of Updated Bike Ordinance

The city of Indianola just passed the first reading of their new local bike ordinance. It still needs to pass at two more council votes. Indianola is using the model ordinance written by the Iowa Bicycle Coalition to improve the local bike laws on the books including: Change lanes to pass, 3′ clearance for bike lanes
