The City of South Sioux City started construction of its “Missing Link’ trail in the fall of 2015 and in early 2016 that trail will open which will allow one to totally circle the community by trail. The trail in South Sioux City runs along the Missouri River and also circles Crystal Cove Lake and has a spur that runs to Dakota City, Nebraska. RAGBRAI Riders know that western Iowa is very hilly, but the South Sioux City Trail is ‘table top flat’ and extremely family friendly.
South Sioux City Nebraska, which is connected by trail to Sioux City Iowa, was the first officially designated Bicycle Friendly Community in Nebraska or Iowa. South Sioux City’s trails can be reached by the trail –width sidewalk over the Veteran’s Bridge from the Sioux City riverfront, starting location for the 2015 RAGBRAI.
