It was just my Mom, our little pushcart and me. Selling our handmade ice cream sandwiches at the Downtown Des Moines Farmers’ market—using my 108-year-old Great Grandma Thelma’s snickerdoodle recipe.
People just couldn’t get enough of our ice cream sandwiches. From that humble start in 2012, we now have production bakery at the Brick Street Market in Bondurant and several helpers as we still make our cookies from scratch and smush sweet Anderson Erickson ice cream between them.
We are especially excited this year to sponsor RAGBRAI and add a custom flavor just for the week, Apple Pie a la mode. It’s two apple pie cookies with smooth vanilla ice cream between. (We have been testing them for weeks and we really think it’s one of our best flavors yet!). Get one while supplies last as well as our 7 other flavors at these locations:
Day 1: with Mr. Pork Chop, east of Quimby & Storm Lake
Day 2: Newell, Manson, Fonda & Fort Dodge
Day 3: Webster City, Williams & Eldora
Day 4: Ackley, Parkersburg & Cedar Falls
Day 5: Vinton, Palo & Hiawatha
Day 6: Mount Vernon, Solon & Coralville
Day 7: Atalissa, Walcott & Davenport (at the Dip Site)
Hope to see you on the Ride!
