Over the last several years the Sac County Conservation Board(SCCB) has been having discussions with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources on the condition of the Black Hawk Marsh dike on which the Sauk Rail Trail sits.  The trail has seen significant damage over the last ten years as a result of deteriorating conditions of the earthen dike and the SCCB has approached the DNR with proposals to remedy the situation.

The DNR has indicated they would like to see the trail that sits on the dike portion be turned into a gravel surface, instead of concrete.

SCCB would like to set up a meeting to bring Sauk Rail Trail supporters together to discuss this.  The meeting will be on September 14th at 7:30 pm at the Conservation Center in Hagge Park
