Not able to ride RAGBRAI yourself? No worries.
Thanks to Terry Fugate you can see what the ride looks like from a helmet’s-eye view.
The retired Kansas City police officer mounted a camera to his helmet and is recording parts of the ride.
“Like rolling into towns,” he said. “Or any time I see something interesting.”
Like in precious years, he’ll post the results to YouTube. The camera isn’t on all the time but it only takes the push of one button to start it up.
He’s done RAGBRAI eight or nine times in the past 12 years and is riding with his friend, a Kansas City police sargeant.
Both have ridden bikes for their job but they enjoy coming to Iowa for RAGBRAI.
“Its fun.Everyone is so nice,” Fugate, 56, said. “And the camera draws attention. People smile and wave.”
