The Iowa Bicycle Coalition fights to make cycling safe, accessible, and enjoyable in Iowa.
We need you riding alongside us.
As we enter this fall season, we are reflecting on yet another banner year for the Iowa Bicycle Coalition that was only made possible with your support.
We fought hard at the Capitol and in local communities for safe, enjoyable, and accessible bicycling for everyone in Iowa. With your help, we made transformational impacts in our state. We passed the hands-free driving law, protected trail funding from cuts, and showcased the statewide economic and health impacts of cycling and trails with a one-of-a-kind two-part study. We’re proud to share and celebrate these successes with you – thank you!
As we look to the opportunities to continue this work next year, we know we can’t do it without you continuing the ride with us. Make your year-end gift today, and help us keep advancing bicycling, trails, and safety throughout Iowa.
What we have accomplished this year is a testament to what we can achieve together, and we could not have done it without your generosity and support.
- Passed Hands-Free Driving into law, reducing distracted driving and making our roadways safer for all users, which is already having a positive effect and saving lives. Iowa is on track for a 100-year low in traffic fatalities, due in part to the new Hands Free law.
- The Coalition’s Safe Routes to School Program hosted Walk, Bike, Roll Day with more than 120 schools participating, placing us 5th in the country per capita for engagement and encouraging more children to choose active transportation safely.
- Published Phase I and II of our Economic and Health Impacts of Cycling and Trails Study, showing cycling has an impact valued at $1.4 billion across all of Iowa’s 99 counties, including even the most rural counties. This groundbreaking study is one-of-a-kind in the entire country and we are setting a standard nationally by showcasing our incredible trail networks and cycling culture.
- Protected trail funding from cuts, including the Destination Iowa, State Recreational Trails, Community Attraction & Tourism Grant, and the Resource Enhancement and Protection programs
With your continued support, we can continue building on some incredible progress in 2026. Each gift to the Iowa Bicycle Coalition and our end-of-year campaign is a pedal stroke towards more trail funding, Safe Routes to School for children across the state, and safety for all bicyclists.
