Wheels and Wings Bike Ride

Join Story County Conservation, the Iowa Outdoor Alliance of Story County, and the Iowa Bicycle Coalition on September 19th, 2026 for Wheels & Wings, a monarch-themed bike ride celebrating the Heart of Iowa Nature Trail and its connections with communities, conservation, and cycling across southern Story County.

Pedal through Slater, Huxley, Cambridge, Maxwell, and Collins as the trail links these five communities (21 miles one way) into one shared outdoor experience. Ride along a corridor that not only brings people together, but also supports native habitats along the monarch migration route – where prairie, woodlands, and farmland create a vibrant landscape for both cyclists and pollinators.

Funds raised from this event will support the Outdoor Alliance of Story County and the Iowa Bicycle Coalition.
