We are saddened by the loss of Grace Harkin, 20 from Riceville after behind struck by a vehicle traveling in the same direction on Hwy 218 near Osage. Vehicular deaths by any means are terrible, but once involving young persons are especially difficult.
Reports indicate both vehicles were traveling the same direction on Hwy 218. The time of the crash was 7:20 AM. We encourage law enforcement to do a full investigation and apply appropriate charges. We understand that investigations take time and outcomes may take several weeks before becoming public.
We encourage motorists to drive with caution, as bicyclists are likely to be traveling Iowa’s roadways at anytime.
