RAGBRAI announced today its partnership with ICEdot to provide emergency identification and notification services to this year’s participants. Now in its 43rd year, the week-long bicycle touring event will offer riders the ability to register with ICEdot, allowing first-responders to access specific information for each individual and even notify their loved ones in case of an emergency.

“We are expecting around 19,000 participants this year, many of which want to ensure all their medical conditions are known,” commented Bob Libby, Medical Director for the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa. “ICEdot makes it easy to access the specific needs of any of the riders needing treatment.”

RAGBRAI participants can register with ICEdot at icedot.org/ragbrai and will receive a sticker pack with their access pin number and a free year of ICEdot service at the RAGBRAI Expo in Sioux City at the Tyson Events Center on Saturday, July 18. Participants can separately purchase a wristband providing the same service or a helmet crash sensor that detects head impacts and notify the wearer’s emergency contacts if an alarm is not deactivated.

“We are cyclists ourselves,” stated ICEdot’s CEO Chris Zenthoefer. “ICEdot is honored to partner and provide our services to one of the best events worldwide.”

Members of the ICEdot team will be in attendance at the event, running from July 19th to 25th, 2015 and the Sioux City Expo on the 18th.
