Iowa Bicycle Summit registration online. Sessions cover innovations in bicycling.
The Iowa Bicycle Summit will convene Friday January 29 & Saturday, January 30, 2010 in Des Moines at the Iowa Events Center. The Friday bicycle facility design workshop will feature John LaPlante, an engineer in Chicago with ties to nationwide bike projects and publications. The Saturday sessions will present design innovations, safe routes to school success stories, bicycling safety, and urban dirt programs.

The Iowa Bicycle Coalition's Safe Routes to School Program isrequesting for proposals from communities across the state who want tobe a model community and host a free Regional Safe Routes to SchoolWorkshop.

Tickets are selling quickly for the RAGBRAI Route Announcement Party
After two weeks of sales 200 people have reserved their spot on the guest list to the RAGBRAI Route Announcement Party. A surprising and sizable percentage of attendees are traveling to this event from outside of Iowa. Only 500 tickets will be sold for the event.

Linn County Raising Funds for Share The Road Signs
There is a new project to erect Share The Road signs throughout Linn County. Cyclists and motorists alike would prefer wider pavement oncounty roads, but Linn County Supervisors are unable to budget forthat expense at this time. Educating and reminding all road users thatbicycles are legal vehicles for transportation and recreation is ourgoal. Increasing safely for cyclists is also a goal. Erecting ShareThe Road signs seemed like a good starting point.
